Make Sure the Project Works

Because this project was paid for in part by a grant from the State Water Resources Control Board, there are requirements to sample water coming into and leaving the filter. The data is being collected in order to verify whether the goal of the project is accomplished. The goal of this particular project is to reduce the nitrate in the water at the outlet of the filter below the drinking water standard of 10mg/L as nitrogen. Data is scheduled to be collected every 2 weeks for this project once construction is completed. Samples will be collected upstream and downstream of the biofilter to characterize water quality associated with irrigation Tailwater and the effectiveness of the project. During this sampling, each aspect of the approved MRP will be carefully adhered to and monitored, including quality control standards, sample handling, and reporting. A summary of all monitoring and data analysis will be included in the Final Project Report submitted to the State Water Board.
